Amy’s Story so far…
Amy joined Viranda in 2015 and recently celebrated her fourth year with the company. She discovered the job opportunity through a recruitment agency, and if she’s honest, she wasn’t overly keen on applying, “the distance from where I was living concerned me, but I thought it couldn’t hurt to do an interview for good practice. That’s a while ago now and I’ve never looked back!” She says.
For this determined assistant accountant, it’s the culture at Viranda that keeps her on her toes and thriving. She enjoys the autonomy in her role, “Viranda has created an environment where there’s plenty of trust to make decisions independently and freedom to shape my role.”
While there isn’t a particularly big memory or ‘a-ha’ moment that stands out above others, Amy reflects on life at Viranda, “sorry, accountants aren’t renowned storytellers! But for me, the past four years have been about building strong client relationships – that’s what I love. I can go months and months talking to an international client before finally meeting face to face. It’s lovely when that happens – it completes the circle.”
Three years ago, Amy embarked on study while working full time. As the ink dries, she has nearly ticked all the boxes for a Chartered Accountant qualification, and while it felt overwhelming at times, she’s excited to see the end in sight, “working and studying is intense. Once I made the mistake of doing a paper towards the end of the year – right when work and social functions ramp up, plus bridesmaid duties for a good friend. But if you pick your battles and understand how and when you learn best, you get through it. I’m a classic crammer!”
The team at Viranda congratulate Amy on achieving so much already. Her zest for work and thorough understanding of the commercial property environment is appreciated – roll on the next four years.
